Palestinian president visits Turkey for talks

28 February 2012 / TODAYSZAMAN.COM,
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is visiting Turkey on Tuesday and is set to have talks with Turkish officials on Wednesday, diplomatic sources said.

The state-run Anatolia news agency reported that Abbas is scheduled to have talks with President Abdullah Gül and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Sources said Abbas will discuss the latest developments in the Arab Spring, the stalled peace process in the Middle East and the national reconciliation process between Palestinian factions.

Last time Abbas visited Turkey was in December of 2011 when he discussed the national reconciliation process and Palestinians' United Nations statehood bid.
