EXHIBITIONS

An exhibition titled “Solo Snow. Works of Michael Snow.” is on display through Feb. 25 at the Akbank Art Center in İstanbul’s Taksim. The center is closed on Sunday and Monday.

A 121-piece selection of paintings, drawings and lithographs by 20th-century Surrealist artist Salvador Dali is on display until Feb. 26 at the Tophane-i Amire Cultural Center in İstanbul’s Tophane quarter. Visiting hours: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. every day.

“Fiktion Okzident,” a group exhibition of sculptures, photographs, video art and installations by 19 artists from Turkey and Germany, continues until Feb. 29 at the Cer Modern museum in Ankara.

An exhibition titled “Forces of Nature,” featuring works by Iranian artist Noush Sanatgar, continues through Feb. 28 at Cer Modern. Visiting hours: 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. The museum is closed on Mondays.

İstanbul’s Pera Museum is home to two exhibitions, “From Konstantiniyye to İstanbul: Photographs of the Anatolian Shore of the Bosphorus from the mid XIXth Century to the XXth Century” and a painting collection titled “Sultans, Merchants, Painters,” until April 1. The museum is closed on Mondays.

An exhibition titled “İstanbul-Eindhoven -- SALTVanAbbe: Post ‘89,” presenting a selection of works by 15 contemporary artists from Turkey and the Netherlands, is on display until April 6 at İstanbul’s new contemporary art spaces, SALT Beyoğlu and SALT Galata.

SALT Galata’s ongoing exhibition “Scramble for the Past: A Story of Archaeology in the Ottoman Empire, 1753-1914” runs until March 11. Online: http://saltonline.org/en/

“Images in Terracotta,” an exhibition that consists of Greek and Roman period terracotta figurines, continues until April 15 at the Sadberk Hanım Museum in İstanbul’s Sarıyer district. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Wednesdays.

“Silent Witnesses from Neolithic Period to the Seljuks,” an exhibition made up of historical artifacts from various ancient civilizations that settled in and around Anatolia between 6500 B.C.-A.D. 1500, is on display through May 30 at the Rezan Has Museum in İstanbul’s Cibali quarter on the shore of the Golden Horn. The museum is open every day between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

FILM PROGRAMS

The !f İstanbul International Independent Film Festival’s 2012 edition is scheduled to run Feb. 16-26 in İstanbul with showings at the AFM Fitaş Beyoğlu, Maçka G-Mall, AFM İstinye Park and AFM Caddebostan theaters. MUSIC & PERFORMING ARTS

The Ankara State Opera and Ballet will present the dance theater show “Çakırcalı Efe” on Monday; the Mozart opera “Don Giovanni” on Wednesday; a ballet rendition of “Zorba the Greek” on Thursday; and the Turkish opera “Yusuf ile Züleyha” (Joseph and Zulaikha) on Saturday at the Ankara Opera House. All performances begin at 8 p.m.

The İstanbul State Opera and Ballet will stage its modern ballet production “Otello,” based on the classic Verdi opera of the same name, on Wednesday at the Fulya Concert Hall in Beşiktaş. The Turkish opera “Midas’ın Kulakları” (The Ears of Midas), composed by Ferit Tüzün, will be staged on Saturday at the Süreyya Opera House in Kadıköy. Performances begin at 8 p.m.
