Anadolu Efes maintains lead in TBL

Anadolu Efes is still in the lead after the week 17 games of the Beko men’s Turkish Basketball League (TBL) last week.

Anadolu Efes defeated Aliağa Petkim 76-72 on the road, increasing its points to 32 on Saturday. Starting the week in fourth place, Beşiktaş Milangaz beat Pınar Karşıyaka 88-80 at home and rose to the position of runner-up with 30 points. Fenerbahçe Ülker trounced third-from-bottom Antalya Büyükşehir Belediyesi 105-89 on Sunday in İstanbul and took third place in the table. Bandırma Kırmızı, which is at the bottom of the league, managed to get its first victory of the season when it defeated mediocre Türk Telekom 72-65 on the road. The Galatasaray-Banvit game in week 17 was postponed because of Galatasaray’s busy Euroleague schedule and will be played on March 14. Galatasaray and Banvit are currently standing in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Other results were: Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi 92, Trabzonspor 80; Olin Edirne 87, Hacettepe Üniversitesi 75; and Erdemirspor 77, TOFAŞ 66. Meanwhile, Fenerbahçe continued to keep the lead in the women’s Turkish Basketball League (TKBL) despite losing to Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi at home on Saturday. Galatasaray took second place after stunning Tarsus Belediyesi 90-76 on the road in their Saturday game. Other results from the TKBL: Optimum TED Ankara Kolejliler 68, Homend Antakya Belediyesi 87; Samsun Basketbol 74, Ceyhan Belediyesi 77; Beşiktaş 75, Kayseri KASKİ 49; and BOTAŞ Spor 105, İstanbul Üniversitesi 100 (OT).
