Woman fakes own death to escape abusive husband
Reportedly beaten by her husband for 15 years, S.A. decided she had had enough and concocted an elaborate plan of escape from the village of Cihanbey in Ağrı's Eleşkirt district.
In an attempt to fake her own death, S.A. tried to make it appear as though she had been attacked by wolves. After collecting enough chicken blood, S.A. tore up her clothes and scattered them and the blood around her backyard. She also tore out strands of her hair.
When the gendarmerie heard what had happened, they sent teams and dogs to join the search for the missing woman. Four days later S.A. was found in the barn of her father's home, where she had been hiding and waiting for the snow to stop so she could leave the village.
She was reportedly spotted by her uncle.
S.A. was taken to Eleşkirt, where the gendarmerie took her statement. She said she had resorted to such actions out of desperation after being a victim of domestic violence for so long.
