Germany eliminates visa fees for Turkish youngsters
The embassy on Monday said that Turkish citizens between 6 and 12 years of age can travel to Germany without paying Schengen visa fees.
The embassy stressed in its statement that the new rule will ease the financial burden of Turkish families and encourage youngsters to travel to Germany. People who qualify under the new procedure can now apply at the German Embassy in Ankara or the German consulates in Izmir and İstanbul. With this step, the embassy hopes to ease the process for obtaining a Schengen visa.
It also noted that Turkish citizens under 25 who visit Germany to participate in seminars, conferences and cultural or educational activities in Germany have been exempt from paying the Schengen fee since Dec. 14, 2011.
Schengen visa fees for Turkish citizens are set at 60 euros.
