Today is the last day to see the “Osman Hamdi Bey and the Americans” exhibition at İstanbul’s Pera Museum. It focuses on the first excavations conducted by American archaeologists in Ottoman lands and the diplomatic relationship between the two countries at the time. The museum is closed on Mondays.

An exhibition entitled “Climate Change: The Threat to Life and a New Energy Future” is on display until Jan. 15 in Santralİstanbul’s Main Gallery.

SALT Galata is hosting three exhibitions -- “Open Archive 1: Foto Galatasaray” by Tayfun Serttaş, “Modern Essays 3: Modernity Unveiled/Interweaving Histories,” by Gülsün Karamustafa and “Scramble for the Past: A Story of Archaeology in the Ottoman Empire, 1753-1914” -- through Jan. 22.

An exhibition entitled “Dream and Reality: Modern and Contemporary Women Artists from Turkey” is on display in the İstanbul Modern’s temporary exhibition hall until Jan. 22, presenting a selection of works by around 80 artists. The museum is closed on Mondays.

A 121-piece selection of paintings, drawings and lithographs by 20th century Surrealist artist Salvador Dali is on display until Feb. 26 at the Tophane-i Amire Cultural Center in İstanbul’s Tophane quarter. Visiting hours: 10 a.m. -- 7 p.m. every day.

“Fiktion Okzident,” a group exhibition that presents a snapshot of the interaction between Turkey and Germany in the field of contemporary art via a collection that brings together sculptures, photographs, video art and other installations by 19 artists from Turkey and Germany, opened on Wednesday and continues until Feb. 29 at the CerModern museum in Ankara. The museum is closed on Mondays.

“Images in Terracotta,” an exhibition that consists of Greek and Roman period terracotta figurines, continues until April 15 in the Sadberk Hanım Museum in İstanbul’s Sarıyer district. The museum is open from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. every day except Wednesdays.

“Silent Witnesses from Neolithic Period to the Seljuks,” an exhibition that is made up of historical artifacts from various ancient civilizations that have settled in and around Anatolia between 6500 B.C. -- 1500 A.D., is on display through May 30 at the Rezan Has Museum in İstanbul’s Cibali quarter on the Golden Horn coast. The museum is open every day between 9 a.m. -- 6 p.m.

“Bir Ülke Değişirken -- Tanzimattan Cumhuriyete Türk Resmi” (As a Country Evolves: The Turkish Art of Painting from Reformation to Republic), the newest permanent exhibition at İstanbul’s Sakıp Sabancı Museum (SSM) is on view at the museum’s newly refurbished permanent exhibition gallery. The museum is closed on Mondays.

MUSIC & PERFORMING ARTS

The Ankara State Opera and Ballet will present the dance theater production “Çakırcalı Efe,” based on Yaşar Kemal’s novel of the same name, on Monday at 8 p.m. at the Ankara Opera House. Other performances of the week include the Verdi opera “Macbeth,” scheduled for Wednesday at 8 p.m., the Turkish ballet “Harem,” on Thursday at 8 p.m., and the Turkish opera “Ali Baba ve Kırk Haramiler” (Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves), on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The İstanbul State Opera and Ballet’s modern dance company MDTist will present “Seyahatname 2,” a new rendition of choreographer Beyhan Murphy’s previous modern dance show “Seyahatname,” based on the historic travelogues of Evliya Çelebi, on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Fulya Cultural Center. The company’s production of the classic American Broadway show “Man of La Mancha” will be staged on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Süreyya Opera House in Kadıköy.

The İzmir State Opera will perform the Turkish opera “Aşk-ı Memnu” (Forbidden Love), composed by Selman Ada, on Tuesday and Thursday at 8 p.m. at the İzmir Opera House.
