Yıldırım’s photo causes trouble for policeman
The police officer has been charged with misconduct and could face between six months and two years in prison.
Yıldırım's photo, which was intended solely for the use of police officers, was released to the press in July. The İstanbul anti-organized crime department immediately launched an investigation to find the police officer who had leaked the photo, discovering that the user ID of police officer A.Ç. had been registered in the system as the last one to have accessed the photograph.
A.Ç. denied the accusation, claiming that he was not the one who had accessed the photo or released it. As the police expanded the investigation, they discovered that İ.T., a police officer from the Beyoğlu Crime Scene Investigation Department, had logged on to the system using A.Ç.'s password and sent the photo to the press.
