The finalists of the National Student Film Competition and the Short Film Competition for Mediterranean Countries, part of the Altın Koza (Golden Boll) International Film Festival, have been announced as the clock ticks down to the 18th edition of the celebrated event hosted annually in September by the Greater Adana Municipality.
According to a statement by Adana Mayor Zihni Aldırmaz, 86 films from 25 countries have been selected from a total of 526 applications to compete in the Short Film Competition. Films ranging across the genres of fiction, documentary, animation and experimental will be judged at the festival by an impressive international jury panel featuring Daniel Baschierei, Finlay Pretsell, Geza Toth, Madeline Bernstorff and Defne Gürsoy. A prize of TL 10, 000 is up for grabs in each of the four sections.
Aldırmaz also revealed that out of 160 applications for the student competition, 34 finalists have been chosen to vie for the top prize of TL 7,500. The category, which was introduced in 2008 as an effort to encourage young filmmakers during their student years, will be judged by a panel featuring Reis Çelik, Selen Uçer, Veli Kahraman, Murat Başol and Zeynep Dadak. The 18th Altın Koza festival will run between Sept. 17-25. Further information is available at www.altinkozafestivali.org.tr/en.
