15 July 2011 / TODAY’S ZAMAN WITH WIRES, İSTANBUL
Odeon Music has announced the re-release of “Müzeyyen Senar ile Bir Ömre Bedel,” Müzeyyen Senar’s 1998 joint album with Ömre Bedel, in celebration of the much-loved Turkish pop diva’s 93rd birthday, the Anatolia news agency reported on Thursday.

The album, which features collaborations and duets with some of the biggest names in the Turkish pop world, including superstars such as Sezen Aksu, Tarkan, Levent Yüksel and Şebnam Ferah, was a huge hit when it was first released and is expected to receive a similar reaction 13 years later.

Having first taken to the stage in 1933 at the young age of 15, Senar, the darling of the Turkish people, released her first album later that same year. Quickly rising to star status, Senar, who dated Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the 1930s, quickly became a household name. Turning 93 this year, the Turkish diva has lost none of her elegance or voice, and her flawless vocals and beautiful lyrics continue to inspire music lovers of all generations.
