Veteran screen actors Kadir İnanır and Nebahat Çehre and famous screenwriter/film director/producer Ali Özgentürk will be honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards at this year’s Altın Koza (Golden Boll) Film Festival in Adana, the organizers announced on Friday.
The Greater Adana Municipality said in a written statement that this year’s festival would take place Sept. 17-25 in the southern city. The statement added that the three award recipients would be honored during the opening ceremony of the 18th festival on Sept. 17.
The festival bill will feature separate sections devoted to films directed by Özgentürk and those featuring İnanır and Çehre in the leading roles. Movie critic Burçak Evren is going to write three books on the cinema veterans especially for the festival.
The festival’s competitive sections -- the national feature film competition, the international short film competition for films from Mediterranean countries and the national competition for student films -- will take place as usual. Other regular sections of the festival, including a world cinema selection and a selection of documentaries will also take place. The organizers also said in the statement that the total cash prize amount to be handed out in the festival’s three competitive sections would be increased to TL 936,000. The winner of the best film award in the national feature competition will receive a cash prize of TL 350,000.
