Turkish film project seeks aspiring producers

23 June 2011 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
“El Yazısı” (One Day or Another), an upcoming comedy-drama film project that won a screenplay development prize at the 45th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival in 2008, is finally coming to life in what will be an exciting window of opportunity for film lovers and aspiring actors and producers.

Telling the story of the pursuit of happiness in a humble Anatolian village, shooting for the film is planned to begin at the end of this month in the winding streets of the historic Göynük district of Bolu province, an area characterized by old Ottoman period houses and buildings.

Written and directed by Ali Vatansever and featuring familiar faces from popular Turkish films and TV series, such as Baran Akbulut, Cengiz Bozkurt, Sercan Badur, Salih Kalyon and Kenan Bal, the film offers cinema lovers from Turkey and beyond a special opportunity to be featured in the cast or making of the film. The film will be made through “crowdsourcing,” which is the act of outsourcing tasks traditionally performed by an employee or contractor to an undefined, large group of people through an open call.

Those interested can visit the website www.elyazisifilm.com, where donations starting from $10 and rising as high as $5,000 give the opportunity to win special prizes as well as parts as extras or tasks in the production in the film. Those interested can also follow the project via Facebook and Twitter. The deadline to enter the drawing is July 12.
