The Supreme Election Board (YSK) board on Friday announced a list of restrictions on entertainment services, the sale of alcoholic beverages, carrying firearms and political campaigning for June 12, 2011, the day of Turkey's next general elections.
According to the YSK announcement, the sale of alcoholic beverages will be forbidden between 6 a.m. on June 12 to 12 a.m. on June 13, and entertainment facilities such as night clubs or bars will not be open throughout the day. Television and radio broadcasters are also banned from airing any election-related commentary, estimates or news until 6 p.m. on election day.
The YSK's directive went into force on Friday, the day it was published in the Official Gazette.
