Austria’s Viennafair fosters artistic dialogue

16 May 2011 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
A special exhibition titled “Diyalog: Art from İstanbul” was on display as a focal point of the prestigious international contemporary arts event, Viennafair 2011, which drew to a close on Sunday evening.

A joint effort between Austria’s OMV, one of the leading energy companies in the European growth belt, and Viennafair, the project focused on fostering cultural networks through the provision of a platform for İstanbul-based galleries and works as well of those of Turkish artists living in Vienna.

With works from four İstanbul-based art galleries -- artSümer, Outlet Gallery, Rampa İstanbul and x-ist -- each presenting a different representation of the diverse art landscape of the city, artists on display included Ayşe Erkmen, Nilbar Güreş, Ahmet Oran, Güçlü Öztekin, Gözde Türkkan and the late Hüseyin Bahri Alptekin.
