Murder suspect severely injured after jumping from third floor

9 May 2011 / TODAY'S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
A murder suspect was severely injured after jumping off a spiral staircase from the third floor of a hotel in Bursa on Sunday.

The suspect, Haşim Y., was reportedly in hiding at a Bursa hotel.

In order to avoid suspicion and prevent the man from seeing them and escaping, police officers dressed in hotel uniforms and entered Haşim Y.'s room. The suspect threatened to kill himself if he were arrested, saying that he had a gun.

The police officers allowed the man to call someone close to him, who the officers asked to convince him to surrender to the authorities. During that time, Haşim Y. ran out of the room and jumped from the third floor landing.

The man fell to the lobby on the ground floor and was severely injured. He was taken to the Uludağ University Medical Hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.
