Fox TV reporter handed over to Turkish Embassy

3 February 2011 / TODAY’S ZAMAN WITH WIRES, İSTANBUL
Fox TV's Turkish reporter in Cairo, Erol Candabakoğlu, as well as an Egyptian cameraman and a driver who were kidnapped early Wednesday while filming in the Boulaq neighborhood were handed over to the Turkish Embassy in Cairo by the police.

The Anatolia news agency reported that the three were brought to the embassy yesterday and that they are fine. Candabakoğlu called an Anatolia news agency reporter in Cairo on Wednesday to ask for help. He said he, his driver and his cameraman had been kidnapped by street gangsters wielding knives and sticks. Turkish Embassy officials contacted Egyptian authorities and asked for help. The police launched an operation and rescued the three. Candabakoğlu once again called the Anatolia reporter yesterday to let him know he is doing well.
