President Abdullah Gül has said Turkey is aware of its global responsibility on climate change and energy security. Speaking at a meeting of the Turkish-Swiss Business Council in Zurich on Friday, Gül said Turkey and Switzerland could cooperate on clean energy technology.
He said Turkey attaches great importance to the development of recycled energy resources, and asserted that both the public and private sector have responsibilities in the production of clean energy resources. “Our main goal is to overcome global problems of energy and climate change,” Gül said. President Gül said Switzerland’s studies on clean energy technology could yield favorable results for the two countries. “We can work together in this area. You should come to Turkey to see great potential there,” he said. Doris Leuthard, president of the Swiss Confederation, said the balance has shifted in the world due to global warming. She said if countries did not find new resources, the future would be more problematic.
