BDP, DTK delegation meets with Iraqi President Talabani

7 September 2010 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, ANKARA
A delegation from the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) and the BDP-affiliated Democratic Society Congress (DTK) had talks with Iraq’s President Jalal Talabani on Sunday in Sulaimaniya, an Iraq-based Kurdish news agency reported on Monday.

The delegation, led by the DTK’s co-chair Ahmet Türk, was joined by the DTK’s co-chair Aysel Tuğlu and Bengi Yıldız, the BDP’s parliamentary group deputy chairperson. BDP Muş deputy Sırrı Sakık, Ruşen Mahmutoğlu – the BDP’s representative in Arbil -- and conservative Kurdish intellectual Altan Tan also attended the talks, the Peyamner news agency reported.

Executives from the Talabani-led Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the PUK’s representative in Ankara, Bahroz Galali, also attended the meeting, which lasted around two hours. Discussed during the meeting was a long-planned Kurdish conference set to take place in northern Iraq with the participation of delegates from Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Europe.
