The San Diego Padres suffered their 10th successive defeat in a 4-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, their once-commanding lead in the National League (NL) West slipping to one game over the San Francisco Giants.
The setback extended San Diego’s longest losing streak since a 13-game skid in 1994. The Padres owned a 6.5-game lead in the division back on Aug. 25 and seemed assured of reaching the post-season before their recent collapse.
