What did I say? I said those pushing a “no” vote in the referendum are afraid that they will no longer be able to pressure the Constitutional Court to close the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) if the reforms are approved in the referendum and the structure of the Constitutional Court is changed -- in other words, if those who feel responsible for protecting the bureaucracy instead of the Constitution leave or remain in the minority at the court.
This is what is creating trouble for the naysayers; the rest is just empty talk. All their arguments and demands for consensus on constitutional amendments are aimed at concealing their actual fears. Today, the Constitutional Court works like the main opposition party. The wind coming from the court is even stronger than the wind from Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who is strongly endorsed by some media outlets.
