Turkey earns $1.34 billion of income from hazelnut exports

Turkey has earned nearly 1.34 billion USD of income from hazelnut exports in the 2009-2010 export season.

The Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association said on Friday that Turkey exported 213,141 tons of hazelnut during the 2009-2010 export season which started on September 1, 2009.

Turkey exported 160,454 tons of hazelnut to European Union (EU) member states, 23,629 tons to non-EU European countries, 18,327 tons to overseas countries and 10,731 tons to other countries, the association said.

In the 2008-2009 export season, Turkey had exported 244,628 tons of hazelnut and had earned nearly 1.18 billion USD.

Exporting to almost 90 countries, Turkey has the biggest share in hazelnut production and export in the world.
