Turkey to be connected to European electricity grid

Turkey will be connected to European electricity network with "smart grid technology" of General Electric (GE).

GE stated on Thursday that the connection would be made within September, and noted that the GE's technology provided integration of electricity networks, and thus it would recover energy safety across Europe.

GE said that the connection would provide growth in energy area, and extend economic opportunities.

Turkish Electricity Transmission Company (TEİAŞ) will be able to exchange energy with European electricity market thanks to this technology.

GE stated that European countries had a high demand for renewable energy, and Turkey had an intensive renewable energy resource.

The General Electric Company, or GE, is a US multinational conglomerate corporation incorporated in New York. In 2010, Forbes ranked GE as the world's second largest company. The company has 304,000 employees around the world.
