Would-be-suicide protests HSYK outside US embassy

Ankara -- A man identified as 21-year-old Hakan Demirkoparan held a weapon to his head and threatened suicide outside the US Embassy in Ankara yesterday, in what he later confessed was a protest against the HSK.
Police teams responded to the scene following tip-offs from locals. The unemployed Demirkoparan -- dressed in a women’s chador, a purse and with a note in one hand -- was taken to the police station for processing. While the situation was diffused, the incident still resulted in tense moments for the embassy and persons in the vicinity, with tightened security measures applied on the embassy’s street.
