PKK terrorists set fire in escape attempt in Hatay

31 August 2010 / ,
HATAY  Terrorist operatives attempting to escape from security forces in Hatay set the Fırnız Plateau ablaze as a cover, and work to extinguish the flames is still under way.
According to reports, a group of terrorist operatives from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) clashed briefly with Turkish security forces on the plateau late Sunday night. During the fight, a PKK member dropped a torch onto some dried brush on the plain and when it erupted into a larger fire, the terrorists fled. Local forestry teams have been working to get the blaze under control, but nearly 15 hectares are still burning.
