The restaurant offers Demirhindi şerbeti, or tamarind juice, all year round and has started a new program. You can order tamarind juice and have it shipped directly to your home -- all this for no shipping fees, either.
In the midst of these hot days, everyone is wondering what they can do to cool off. Considering that we are fasting during this hot weather, finding a way to cool off is very important. But bear in mind that the food and drink we consume for refreshment affect our body temperature. We have a drink that is both refreshing and healthy to offer. Which drink provides both, you ask? Of course tamarind juice, a 600-year-old tradition of the Ottoman kitchen.
Known for its refreshing taste, the juice can be found in many restaurants. Güler Osmanlı Mutfağı offers the juice, which has begun to regain its popularity in recent years, to its customers all year round. This year the restaurant started a new service: You can order tamarind juice from the restaurant in any part of Turkey and you won’t have to pay any shipping fees. Known as a cure to all kinds of illnesses since the 15th century, the juice includes 38 spices. Güler Osmanlı Mutfağı is not only maintaining the tradition but is trying to spread it as well. You can order one or two liter bottles or hundreds of bottles, it doesn’t matter.
Ali Güler, the restaurant’s owner, combines various spices according to the original recipe and offers it to customers. Tamarind juice should be consumed within 10 to 12 days. The price of a liter of the juice is TL 15.
Güler Osmanlı Mutfağı has more than 20 different kinds of juice. You can find juices from raspberries and blueberries to apricots and pomegranate. Tamarind juice is sold every day at the restaurant, while the other juices are sold according to the season. The restaurant has customers who are addicted to the juices and who know what juice should be drunk during what month. Tamarind juice, however, is consumed all year round.
720 dishes from the Ottoman kitchen
Güler Osmanlı Mutfağı prepares more than 720 soups, meals and desserts from the Ottoman and Turkish kitchens. With its friendly staff, the restaurant offers 25 different meals every day in a clean and ample environment. Noting that all dishes and juices are prepared according to their original recipes, Güler said, “We keep the Ottoman kitchen alive by offering it to our guests.” Güler Osmanlı Mutfağı is waiting for you to visit its warm atmosphere in Kadıköy’s Hasanpaşa neighborhood.
