Bridges, toll roads continue to bring in revenue

Turkey earned TL 403.1 million from the two bridges over the Bosporus and six toll roads in the first seven months of 2010, the Turkish General Directorate of Highways (KGM) reported on Sunday.

The Bosporus Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, which connect Europe and Asia, together yielded TL 124.37 million, while the toll highways produced TL 278.7 million.

The figures also indicated that 192.78 million vehicles paid tolls to use the bridges and highways in the seven months. Of number, 87.2 million vehicles crossed the bridges.

In all of 2009, 314.2 million vehicles used the bridges and toll roads in Turkey, paying a total of TL 494.9 million.
