July sees fewer firm openings and closures

The number of new companies established in Turkey decreased by 6.74 percent in July from June, while the number of firms that closed down during this period dropped significantly, by 11.26 percent, new figures from the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) indicate.

Compared to last year, the number of companies established in July decreased only slightly, by 0.87 percent in last month, the figures yesterday showed. The number of liquidated firms, however, fell sharply, by 12.57 percent, during the same period. But the number of liquidated cooperatives jumped notably, by 20.62 percent year on year.

In the first seven months of the year 18.42 percent more companies were established than in the same period of last year, while 11.73 percent fewer firms closed their doors.
