Süvari sends capital of culture message

30 July 2010 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
Turkey’s leading menswear and fashion company, Süvari, has started a campaign to contribute to the promotion of Istanbul as the 2010 European Capital of Culture by attaching small, informational tags to all of their products.

The small leaflets emphasize İstanbul’s unique geographic position among the world’s metropolises, as it lies at the intersection of two continents, and its varied cultural heritage accumulated over thousands of years. İstanbul’s young and dynamic population is the driving force that makes the city a lively international hub, read the leaflets.

“Every passing day, İstanbul is becoming known as a center for culture and art, and is becoming a magnet for not only İstanbulites, but the entire world,” read the tasteful tags in praise of Turkey’s largest city. “Europe can explore the roots of its culture in İstanbul, leading a great opportunity to foster understanding,” the tags go on to say.

Süvari had conducted similar campaigns in past, designing and attaching small tags that convey a social message to their clothing. The company recently promoted campaigns in support of encouraging energy saving and increasing public awareness on matters such as the depletion of water resources, forest fires and ban on smoking in public places, among others.
