However, on Wednesday a fire broke out for unknown reasons on the boat carrying 18 tourists and four crew members onboard.The crew called the Coast Guard for assistance as the fire spread. People arriving on the scene managed to rescue all passengers and crew, except for a Spanish tourist. The boat sank shortly after the passengers were rescued. They were taken to the Fethiye State Hospital. According to news reports, most of them were discharged from hospital on Thursday and accommodated in a hotel.
The district governor of Fethiye, Mehmet Ali Karatekeli, made a speech in front of the Coast Guard Command, stating his great sadness over this tragic event. “We will do what is necessary for the survivors of this terrible incident. Fortunately only three people are suffering from minor injuries. However, one person is still missing,” Karatekeli said.
Meanwhile, a 9-year-old girl British girl drowned and another British person was injured after a boat, in which a group of British people were making rafting, overturned. The event took place in the popular tourism province of Muğla on Thursday. The body of girl was founded trapped in rocks by rescue teams and then was sent to Muğla’s Council of Forensic Medicine (ATK) for autopsy. News reports revealed that the British tourist group came to Muğla’s Dalaman district from Muğla’s another district of Fethiye with a private tourism company. Markus Peter (12), who was injured due to the event, was taken to Muğla’s Ortaca Yücelen Hospital for treatment.
