Turkish band maNga performs in Sarajevo

28 July 2010 / THE ANATOLIA NEWS AGENCY, SARAJEVO
Turkish rock band maNga, which finished this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo in second place, performed Tuesday in Bosnian capital of Sarajevo on Tuesday.

maNga, which took stage in front of the Bosnia-Herzegovina state television, rocked the huge crowd which showed up for the concert in a three-hour performance.

Band member, Efe Yılmaz, said they took stage in Sarajevo, to extend support to a city which suffered great pains in the past.

He said the city resembled Turkish city of Bursa very much, adding that it was great to see how different cultures and architectural structures mingled in Sarajevo.

maNga's performance was part of Turkish State Television-TRT's Balkan concerts.

maNga was formed in 2001, being named after the word for Japanese comic books, maNga. Their music is a fusion of alternative rock and hip hop music, with a touch of Anatolian melodies; with electronic elements.

In 2009, they both won the Best Turkish Act award from MTV Turkey and consequently the Best European Act award from MTV Networks Europe in MTV Europe Music Awards 2009.
