Discouraging Trade Registry figures released on Friday by the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) showed that the number of liquidated companies surged by 35.8 percent in June compared to May of this year.
Meanwhile, the number of newly established companies in June increased by 6 percent over the previous month. Newly established cooperative enterprises increased by 11.1 percent in the same period, while the number of liquidated cooperatives jumped notably, by 60.3 percent. When compared with the same month of 2009, June 2010 saw a 5.7 percent increase in the number of newly established businesses, while the number of newly opened cooperatives increased by 25.9 percent in the same period.
The number of newly established companies grew by 21.9 percent in the first six months of 2010 compared to the same half of 2009, while newly established cooperative enterprises saw a drastic rise of 74.8 percent in the same period.
