With an increase in investment despite the ongoing adverse impacts of the 2009 global credit crunch, Türk Telekom hired 3,500 new employees in the first six months of the year alone. The company also invested TL 520 million in technology infrastructure projects in the same period.
Evaluating company operations for reporters on Monday in İstanbul, Türk Telekom CEO Paul Doany said the company has managed to double revenue in the first half of the year over the same period of 2009. Doany said Türk Telekom is determined to strengthen its position in the market with new investments, underlining that they expected to eventually emerge as a leading global brand. Doany emphasized that regional investments played a significant role to this end.
As part of regional efforts at integration, Türk Telekom bought Central and Eastern European data capacity and services firm Invitel International and its units for 221 million euros ($297 million) in May.
