Turkish classical pianist-composer Fazıl Say’s newest work, “Nirvana Burning,” will have its world premiere next month in Austria, news agencies reported on Wednesday.
“Nirvana Burning opus 30,” a piece for piano and orchestra in two movements, will be performed during a gala concert on the opening day of this year’s Salzburg Festival, Say told the Anatolia news agency. Say will be accompanied by the Borusan İstanbul Philharmonic Orchestra in the performance of the 16-minute piece. The two movements of the piece are titled “Nirvana” and “Yangın” (Fire). The piece will have its Turkish premiere in a concert in İstanbul in December 2010.
