A PLAN TO REDUCE UNEMPLOYMENT
Social Security & Labor Minister Omer Dincer said that some strict measures should be taken to reduce unemployment. "This measures will be put into practice by the state, labor unions and employers," he said. Under the plan, a vocational training mobilization will be launched throughout the country.

Pinar Akdag, wife of Lieutenant Cumhur Akdag who was killed in PKK's rocket attack on a military housing complex near the southern province of Osmaniye, was laid to rest in the western province of Izmir. General Staff Chief Ilker Basbug and a number of high-ranking military officers were in attendance at the funeral of the young lady.

WE WILL NOT TURN AWAY FROM EU MEMBERSHIP, ERDOĞAN SAYS
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was in Trabzon on Saturday. Speaking to the public, Erdoğan said that Turkey was doing all it can for EU membership. "We are working hard for EU membership. Our chief negotiator is frequently travelling to EU countries. Despite all these, the EU is trifling with Turkey. We will not turn away from EU membership. We continue to study our lesson," Erdoğan said.

French insurance company Axa is making preparations to buy an insurance company in Turkey. President of the Executive Board of Axa Henri de Castries said that they were conducting negotiations with various Turkish companies.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that they would not abandon their target to become a full member of the European Union. GOOGLE TO ARRIVE IN TURKEY AFTER RECEIVING PENALTY FROM TURKISH GOVERNMENT
Turkish Minister of Transportation Binali Yildirim said that executives from Google will arrive in Turkey in a short period of time after the company received a penalty of 30 million liras from the Turkish government recently. It was unacceptable to see that a company (Google) made profits in Turkey from advertisements without paying taxes to the government, Yildirim said.
TÜSİAD TO MEET WITH US SECRETARY OF STATE CLINTON
A delegation from the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TÜSİAD) will be in the United States on June 16 and 17. The TÜSİAD delegation will meet with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and members of the US Congress.

FRANCE TO PRESENT STATE AWARD TO GÜLER SABANCI
President of the Executive Board of Sabanci Holding, Güler Sabanci, will be given the Legion d'Honneur state award by France. In a statement issued, Sabanci Holding said that the French award would be presented to Güler Sabanci at the Sakip Sabanci Museum on June 15 by the French Minister of Economy, Industry and Employment Christine Lagarde. Güler Sabanci received state awards from Italy, Belgium, Spain, and Austria in the past.
