Çelebi expands to Indian airport

4 June 2010 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
Turkish airport ground services provider Çelebi Holding has started providing services at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, a company statement released on Thursday said.

Çelebi’s New Delhi services, which began on Wednesday, are run under the subsidiary name Çelebi Ground Handling Delhi Private Limited.

Çelebi Holding won a tender to operate a cargo terminal at Indira Gandhi International Airport in April. In early March the company submitted a bid to modernize and operate the airport’s existing cargo terminal, the Brownfield site, for 25 years. In November 2008, the CGH/NAS consortium, of which Çelebi is a part, won another tender to provide ground services for 10 years at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. Under the contract, the consortium will provide ground handling services at this airport, the biggest airport in India in terms of traffic.

Çelebi is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Aviation Handlers’ Association (IAHA), the Airports Council International (ACI) and the International Air Cargo Association (TIACA), and it is also a founding member of Aviance.
