A delegation of foreign students currently in Turkey for the 8th International Turkish Language Olympiads visited Parliament on Monday with organizing committee chairman Mehmet Sağlam.

The delegation met with Parliament Speaker Mehmet Ali Şahin, who pointed out that the International Turkish Language Olympiads has started to draw considerable interest throughout the world. “What is the main reason that brings these foreign students together in Turkey? I believe that the Turkish language is not the only answer to this, because along with Turkish, the soul of Turkey plays an important role. I appreciate all the students who have learned Turkish in Turkish schools established around the world,” said Şahin.

Noting that this year’s International Turkish Language Olympiads includes 750 students from 120 countries, Şahin gave the students Turkish delight, chocolates, wristwatches and T-shirts as gifts.
