Three women were found hanged in the eastern province of Ağrı's Diyadin district on Saturday, Turkish news agencies reported.
Özlem Demir, 18, and her uncle's 21-year-old wife, Şehriban Demir, are believed to have committed suicide by hanging themselves in an abandoned house in the village of Yolcupınar. They were found after their families began to look for them, thinking they had gone missing. In a similar incident, the family of 20-year-old Saniye Çelik found the young woman hanging from a noose in her house in the village of Yanıkçukur, also in Diyadin. Diyadin Gendarmerie Command officers sent the bodies of the three women to the Trabzon Council of Forensic Medicine for autopsy. An investigation has been launched into the incidents. Diyadin Governor Berkan Sönmezay said the relatives of all three women had said they did not know why they might have killed themselves.
