Bank Asya posts TL 60 million net profit in first quarter

The consolidated net profit of Bank Asya, a leading participation bank in Turkey, rose 18 percent in the first quarter of 2010 over the same period a year ago, to reach TL 60 million.

In a written statement on Friday Bank Asya said the bank and its subsidiaries maintained steady growth in profits last year, as was the case in previous years.

The bank’s consolidated net profit was TL 51 million in the first quarter of 2009.

In the first quarter of 2010, the consolidated equities of the participation bank climbed 1.7 percent to TL 830 million, whereas consolidated assets hit TL 12 billion in total, up 2.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

The bank’s funds, which the bank collected through current and participation accounts, also enjoyed an increase of 2.2 percent, to reach to TL 9.29 billion. Moreover, cash loans reached TL 8.88 billion, while non-cash loans had risen to TL 9 billion as of the end of the first quarter. The group employs 4,422 staff members.
