Invitel International, a leading alternative telecommunication operator in the CEE region and Turkey, provides services with a total of 27,000 kilometers of optic fiber network installed in 27 countries.In a written statement on Tuesday, Türk Telekom said the acquisition aims to strengthen its leading position by enjoying a share in the data/broadband traffic in the CEE region and by providing better data/broadband traffic while connecting the Middle East and Asian regions to Western Europe and the US.
Under the terms of the agreement, Türk Telekom will become the owner of Invitel’s International Wholesale Business, comprising the entire issued share capital of Invitel International AG (including its subsidiaries), AT-INVITEL GmbH, Invitel International Hungary Kft and S.C. EuroWeb Romania S.A.
The statement also said that the agreement will be effective following the approval of the regulatory sector authorities in Turkey and other relevant countries.
