Famous Turkish adman Ali Taran is preparing a new ad campaign for the 8th International Turkish Language Olympiads, which will kick off with an opening ceremony on May 26 at İstanbul’s Dolmabahçe Palace.
The International Turkish Language Olympiads is a contest that has been held annually since 2003, bringing hundreds of foreign students from Turkish schools throughout the world to Turkey. Themes of love, friendship and peace are being used in advertising campaign, with the commercials being aired on television leading up to the event.

“It is amazing to hear that foreign students are speaking the Turkish language. The International Turkish Language Olympiads aims to spread the Turkish language with love and peace. I am very happy since I wanted to be involved in this event as an adman. I will always contribute to every project that aims to contribute to unity, love and peaceful understanding among the world’s countries,” said Taran.

Famous Turkish actress Aydan Şener, actress and author İclal Aydın and singer Mustafa Ceceli took part in the advertising campaign as well as a number of foreign students studying in Turkish schools throughout the world.

Organized by the International Turkish Education Association (TÜRKÇEDER), the International Turkish Language Olympiads are set to stage colorful shows. Approximately 750 students will come to Turkey from 120 countries to compete in 13 categories ranging from poetry to songs.

In addition, cultural festivals have been planned in 14 of Turkey’s provinces, including İstanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Konya, Antalya, Erzurum, Gaziantep, İzmir, Trabzon, Kayseri, Kahramanmaraş, Malatya, Manisa and Samsun, during the 16-day event. Hundreds of foreign students will bring traditional costumes, photos, food, handcrafts and music from their countries to display at the cultural festivals to promote their countries.
