Five people died when a truck and a car collided early Monday morning in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa.
The head-on collision in the district of Suruç killed everyone in the car, driven by 52-year-old Nurettin Çiçek, who is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel, while 33-year-old truck driver Ahmet Köse, who was slightly injured in the collision, was transported from the scene by gendarmes.It took two hours to extract the bodies from the car, which was totaled in the collision. They were later taken to the Suruç State Hospital morgue for autopsies. The accident resulted in a temporary closure of the highway between the Suruç and Birecik districts.
