4 May 2010 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
A large number of prominent women from various countries are planning to come together in İstanbul at the end of May for a summit organized by the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey (KAGİDER) to support women’s entrepreneurship and leadership in Turkey and neighboring countries.

KAGİDER organized the first International Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Summit last year. Turkish Garanti Bank is the sponsor of the two-day summit, which will take place on May 27-28 at the Lütfi Kırdar Congress Center.

Many prominent women, including Ümit Boyner, the chairwoman of the Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (TÜSİAD); Fatmagül Berktay, a professor at İstanbul University; Serpil Timuray, the chairwoman of the executive board of Vodafone Turkey; Aynur Bektaş, the head of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) Women Entrepreneurs Committee; and Nebahat Akkoç, the founder of the Diyarbakır-based Women’s Consultation and Solidarity Center (KAMER), will participate in the summit. Furthermore, many foreign women entrepreneurs have been invited to the summit and are expected to attend.

KAGİDER President Gülseren Onanç said they hope to cooperate with many women entrepreneurs from around the world in order to be able to offer support to other women entrepreneurs, adding that they expect a variety of ideas and perspectives to be represented at the summit.
