Speaking to the Anatolia news agency Sunday in Washington, Baybars Altuntaş, CEO of Deulcom International, a member of the Turkish delegation attending the summit, said they would convey Erdoğan’s letter to Obama. “The letter makes a proposal to Obama to hold a second Summit on Entrepreneurship in Turkey,” Altuntaş said.
“The fact that Prime Minister Erdoğan has sent a letter to President Obama via an entrepreneur shows the important role entrepreneurs play in diplomacy. The letter could have been sent via the Turkish Embassy. With this approach, Erdoğan showed that he has confidence in Turkish entrepreneurs,” Altuntaş underlined. Mentioning Turkish investments in global markets, he said Turkish entrepreneurs have created a market of 10 billion euros in Germany and have made investments worth billions of euros and dollars in countries such as Sweden, the Netherlands, France and the US.
In his visit to Cairo last June, Obama announced the US would host a Summit on Entrepreneurship to identify how “we can deepen ties between business leaders, foundations and entrepreneurs in the United States and Muslim communities around the world.”
The Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship was slated to take place yesterday and today at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. The summit will bring together more than 275 participants from over 50 countries around the world including Morocco, Indonesia, Uganda, Kazakhstan, France and India.
