Turkish furniture firm Alfemo’s exports increased by 30 percent in 2009, the company’s marketing manager, Süleyman Zoral, has said, adding that their target for this year is to increase exports by a further 40 percent.
Speaking to the Anatolia news agency yesterday, Zoral stated that the İzmir-based company opened 35 new franchises last year, bringing the total to more than 150. Alfemo’s target for 2010 is to launch 50 new franchises, he said. The company produces furniture both to meet domestic demand and for the export market, Zorlu stated. “We export a significant portion of the total production. Last year Alfemo’s exports grew by 30 percent over one year earlier. This year’s target is to increase our exports by 40 percent,” he said, adding that they also aim to increase the number of countries where it exports its products to 59 within the next year. Zorlu said the company has spent approximately TL 3 million on technological improvements in order to enhance the quality of its products and expand its product range, adding that Alfemo aims to increase its share in both the domestic market and the export market by producing more economical products of a higher quality.
