Black Sea side Kardemir Karabükspor is back in the Turkcell Super League after routing Çaykur Rizespor 3-0 away in their Bank Asya League (second division) week 30 match at the Yeni Rize Stadium on Monday.
The result increased Kardemir Karabükspor’s points to 68 and guaranteed its return to topflight Turkish football with four games to go. Second-placed Bucaspor, the other team likely to join Karabükspor in the Super League next season, has 59 points.

The town of Karabük exploded in joy on Monday as fans celebrated in scenes of wild delight until the early hours of the morning. Football club bosses as well as political leaders sent messages of congratulation to the Black Sea side for its success.

Karabükspor is back in the Turkcell Super League after an 11-year hiatus. Kardemir Karabükspor played in topflight Turkish football in the 1993-1994 and 1997-1999 seasons. Ever since then, the Black Sea team has rarely come close to finishing first and earning a promotion to the Super League.

The top two teams in the Bank Asya League 1 gain automatic advancement to the Super League at the end of the regular season in May.

The teams that finish third to sixth take part in a four-team promotion playoff at a venue that is chosen by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). The third-place team plays the sixth, the fourth plays the fifth and the two winners clash in a one-leg final for a single Super League spot. As is known, the bottom three teams in the Turkcell Super League are relegated to the Bank Asya League 1.
