FC Barcelona stars appear in new THY advertisement

A new Turkish Airlines (THY) advertisement scheduled for worldwide broadcast on April 15 stars members of the world-renowned Barcelona soccer team, including Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Carles Puyol.
Made by Netherlands-based director Marco Grandia, the commercial was shot in İstanbul and Barcelona with a crew of nearly 300 people. The advertisement, which will premier in Turkey, will be aired on many domestic and international channels such as CNN International, BBC, CNBC, Euronews, Eurosport and Al Jazeera. The advertisement’s slogan is “We are Turkish Airlines, We are globally yours.”
A statement released by THY’s press office on Sunday said the Turkish national carrier had once again signed off on a noteworthy project so as to improve its recognition throughout the world.
THY signed a sponsorship deal with La Liga soccer team FC Barcelona on Jan. 18. THY CEO Temel Kotil and FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta signed the sponsorship deal at a ceremony at the club’s stadium Camp Nou that was also attended by THY executive board members Orhan Birdal and Mehmet Büyükekşi and inspection board members Naci Ağbal and İsmail Gerçek. THY is the third foreign company to become the official sponsor of FC Barcelona. The soccer club currently has four other sponsorship deals with La Caixa bank, Estrella Damm, Nike and Audi.
