One of Turkey’s leading public banks, Ziraat Bankası, opened a new branch in the Bulgarian town of Kardzhali (Kırcaali in Turkish), which is primarily populated by ethnic Turks, on Wednesday.
The Kardzhali office is the bank’s third branch in the country following branches in Sofia and Plovdiv. The bank expects to help solve the money transfer problems that the people of Kardzhali, particularly those who have dual citizenship, have faced in the past, bank officials said. Ziraat also operates in other Balkan countries such as Greece, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
