The event, running through April 28, now in its 12th year, offers performances by three Turkish State Theater companies, one municipal theater, three private companies and 10 theater companies from abroad.Culture and Tourism Minister Ertuğrul Günay, speaking at the opening ceremony held at the Adana HiltonSA, praised the efforts of the Sabancı family, one of the festival’s co-organizers along with the State Theaters (DT), and said it was “fortunate for a city to be recognized with an art event,” the Anatolia news agency reported on Sunday.
“Among all the arts, theater is one significant discipline where no alienating factors are present [between the audience and the artwork presented],” Günay said in his speech. “Taking this event to the streets, to the historic Taşköprü, is a very good decision that will help Adana’s citizens embrace this [festival] even more,” the minister added.
Tickets for the festival are priced at TL 10 for adults and TL 7.50 for students. Tickets for children’s plays are TL 3. Performances are being staged at the Hacı Ömer Sabancı Cultural Center, Merkez Park, Taşköprü, Atatürk Park and the Adana Train Station.
