Ağaoğlu Group to invest 2 billion USD in energy

23 March 2010 / THE ANATOLIA NEWS AGENCY, İSTANBUL
Turkey's Ağaoğlu Energy Group has launched its first wind power plant and said it would invest $2 billion in energy in the next three years.

Ağaoğlu's first wind power plant in Mersin province in southern Turkey has a capacity of 33 megawatts and it started generating electricity on March 19, the company said on Tuesday.

The Mersin plant is expected to power around 12,000 homes a year and help save fossil fuel of up to 10 million lira every year, Ağaoğlu said.

Ağaoğlu plans to invest $2 billion to reach a total power capacity of 1,000 megawatts by 2013.

The company said two more wind power plants were under construction in western Turkey. (1 USD equals 1.54 Turkish lira)
