20 March 2010 / MUSTAFA GÜRLEK, KAYSERI
Retired Lt. Col. Gürol Doğan, who stands accused of using hypnosis during the interrogation of noncommissioned officers detained by the military in the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri last year, will continue to be tried in a civilian court.
Doğan was arrested in January. The Kayseri 2nd High Criminal Court, which is hearing the trial, has rejected a request from Ahmet Çelebi, Doğan’s lawyer, for Doğan’s trial to be moved to a military court. The court also rejected a request for the release of Doğan. Doğan is accused of drugging three noncommissioned officers and using hypnosis and psychological pressure to extract statements from them last year.
