Turkey’s Interbank Card Center (BKM) will be seeing a shift in management, as the board has promoted the vice chairman, Osman Tanaçan from Akbank, to the position of chairman.
Tanaçan was appointed chairman at the general assembly of the BKM on Thursday. Hasan Ünal, the previous chairman, had stepped down from his position. Tanaçan is director of the merchants division at Akbank T.A.Ş. He has a degree from the Middle Eastern Technical University (ODTÜ) in statistics and will be serving alongside other bankers from various domestic banks such as Finansbank, Garanti and VakıfBank on the board of the BKM. The BKM was established in 1990 to provide solutions and cooperate on developing rules and standards for credit and debit cards in Turkey.
